The John Lewis Baldwin desk lamp in antique brass is an ex-display piece, so it may show some minor scratches from time on the showroom floor. It is the smaller version of the Baldwin lighting range, with similarly styled ceiling, wall and floor lights also available.
Design and build
The industrial look is backed by practical construction. Knurled metal detailing, steel and aluminium alloy materials and a sturdy build mean the lamp is made for everyday use. The dome-shaped shade can be tilted, dangled or angled into the position you need. Hang it straight down for an ambient pool of light, or angle it for reading and close work.
Lighting and controls
A rotary dimmer gives adjustable brightness, making the lamp a good bedside choice. It is dimmable and takes one E14 SES LED bulb, which is not included. The recommended bulb is a 6W dimmable LED golf bulb, equivalent to a 40W incandescent bulb. A typical LED bulb lasts far longer than an incandescent bulb and uses around 90% less electricity. The 2m grey braided flex gives flexibility in where you place the lamp, rather than having to stay close to a socket.
